Clothes Dryers Fires

       dryer cleaning

According to the NFPA (www.nfpa.org), in 2006, an estimated 17,700 reported US con-confined or confined home structure fires involving clothes dryers or washing machines, resulted in an estimated 15 civilian death, 360 civilian injuries and $194 MILLION in direct property damage. Dust, fiber or lint were the leading items first ignited 27% of the time; the leading cause of clothes dryer was failure to clean (29% of fires).

Always clear and clean the lint trap easily accessible in most dryer units (also same with stackable washer/dryers). Don’t overload your dryers. Once a year or so, according to the NFPA, or more often if you notice that it is taking longer than normal for your clothes to dry, clear the lint out of the lint exhaust duct, but be careful of animals and pests that may have taken up residence.

Be sure that your exhaust ductwork is clear. Call Air Duct Aseptics today at 888-707-7763 throughout Florida or visit us online at www.iaq-usa.com/services/WPDryer.htm
